Most GMs experience it from time to time that their creative juices just run out. They just can't come up with a good idea for their next adventure. And that's when they have to search for outside inspiration. Well, the Arcana Wiki - as I have mentioned in my previous post - is all about providing that inspiration.- Read more...

RPGs are a peculiar animal. They're designed to be used as is, and yet there are few creatures in the "things people make for purchase" field that can be so readily disassembled, ransacked or pillaged for spare ideas or mechanics that are then riveted into another work. Sure, an artist can steal a composition from another artist, or a musician can swipe a few chords from another song — but RPGs stand out.- Read more...

The big news this week was that WizKids has ceased operations and closed up shop.
Scott Silverstein, CEO of Topps, said “This was an extremely difficult decision. While the company will still actively pursue gaming initiatives, we feel it is necessary to align our efforts more closely with Topps current sports and entertainment offerings which are being developed within our New York office.”- Read more...

So my current World of Darkness game is going to be taking a break after we wrap up the current ghost hunt for a couple of weeks and I'm thinking of running a mini-series but cannot decide what system/setting to run.
It will only be a few sessions, so I'll need a storyline that can wrap up in 3 to 4 episodes. I'm looking over my collection and thinking we need a break from modern horror for a bit.- Read more...

This is a review of both the free PDF of the Pathfinder Beta and the increasingly hard to find softback print version.
The Beta is Paizo's attempt to breathe some new life into version 3.5 of Dungeons and Dragons, as WotC pushes forward with 4th edition and, in the process, leaves a lot of their fans behind. So if you're interested in the third edition of D&D, Pathfinder is the place to be.- Read more...
